PNOA Fourth Quarter Newsletter – Q4 2025 Recap

Dear PNOA Members and Friends,

Happy New Year! First and foremost, we apologize for the slight delay in sending out this newsletter—the holiday season and New Year festivities kept everyone busy with cherished family moments, festive gatherings, and enjoying the beautiful winter outdoors!

As we warmly welcome 2026, let’s take a moment to reflect on an incredibly vibrant and memorable Q4 2025 (October–December). We transitioned beautifully from the fiery reds and golds of autumn foliage—highlighted by those magical golden larches—to the crisp, snowy wonder of early winter. Our dedicated trip leaders and enthusiastic participants made every adventure safe, fun, and unforgettable. Thank you all for your energy, support, and shared passion for the outdoors!

Q4 2025 Event Highlights

October: Fall Colors and Community Spirit

Autumn painted British Columbia’s landscapes in breathtaking hues, and our hikes captured the season’s peak beauty perfectly.

•  Oct 5 → Tricouni Berg Lake Trail (led by Sue) – 16 participants

•  Oct 5 → Yellow Aster Butte day hike (led by Wan Li) – 8 participants

•  Oct 9 → Yellow Aster Butte day hike (led by James Zhang) – 6 participants

•  Oct 11–19 → Grand Canyon National Parks epic adventure (led by Vic and Connie) – 15 participants

•  Oct 14 → Brandywine Mountain Trail day hike (led by Patrick) – 5 participants

•  Oct 15 → Manning Park golden larches (led by Paul) – 14 participants

•  Oct 18 → Imperial Landing Park clean-up and annual gathering (organized by Roy Cao)- 35 participants

•  Oct 19 → Elgin Hall outdoor safety, first aid, and cycling workshop (led by Suzey and James Chen) – 40 participants

These events not only showcased stunning fall scenery but also strengthened our community bonds through shared laughter, learning, and environmental stewardship.

November: Challenging Trails and Skill-Building

As temperatures dropped and snow dusted the higher peaks, we embraced more challenging terrain and focused heavily on safety and skill development—essential for our upcoming winter season.

•  Nov 2 → Outdoor safety workshop in Vancouver (led by Paul) – 12 participants

•  Nov 8 → Joffre Lakes and Matier Glacier day hike (led by Paul and Jerry) – 17 participants

•  Nov 9 → Pump Peak day hike (led by Mani) – 17 participants

•  Nov 11 → Norvan Falls (led by Yuki and Yolanda) – 20 participants

•  Nov 19 → Garibaldi Lake (led by Paul) – 19 participants

•  Nov 22 → Remote first aid training (led by Victor) – 12 participants

•  Nov 23 → Brunswick Mountain day hike (led by Jerry)- 12 participants 

•  Nov 24 → Sea to Summit day hike (led by Paul)- 4 participants 

•  Nov 24 → Outdoor safety & wildlife Zoom meeting (online, led by Wan Li)

•  Nov 29 → Wedgemount Lake day hike (led by Jerry)- 43 participants 

•  Nov 30 → Elk Mountain day hike (led by James Zhang) – 13 participants

A special shoutout to our safety-focused events—these trainings help ensure everyone returns home safely while building confidence on the trails.

December: Winter Wonders and Ski Season Kickoff

The arrival of consistent snow transformed our activities, and early-season conditions in Whistler and Banff were fantastic!

•  Dec 6 → AST-1 training – 5 participants

•  Dec 6–14 → Whistler early season skiing (led by Timothy and Lisa) – 58 participants (our biggest turnout of the quarter!)

•  Dec 25 → Banff snowshoeing trip (led by White Water and Jane Zhao) – 15 participants

We also continued our great collaboration with DragonFit to promote fitness activities and encourage healthy exercise habits among members. Additionally, Patrick generously shared his expertise through multiple running technique workshops throughout the season.

A massive thank you to every trip leader, volunteer, and participant—your commitment keeps our community strong, safe, and growing!

Looking Ahead: Exciting 2026 Adventures

The new year brings even more thrilling opportunities to explore!

Skiing/Snowboarding Activities (滑雪活动)

•  Alberta/BC Interior trip (Feb 13–22, 2026) – Featuring iconic destinations like Lake Louise, Banff Sunshine, and Sun Peaks 

•  Whistler late season multi-day trip (tentative Apr 5–6, 2026) 

•  Whistler early season multi-day trip (tentative Dec 5–13, 2026) 

•  2026 Mount Robson Backpacking Trip (various dates) – Stay tuned for details!

    Rockwall BP

    记录一下,本人的第一次重装徒步旅行,8.27-8.31五天四晚Rockwall 穿越,圆满完成。 出发前因BC 山火而犹豫不决,不过最终还是决定抓住难得的机会,实现自己人生的第一次BP。结果是非常圆满而美好的。最高兴的就是每次户外活动都能结识一大批新朋友,个个身怀绝技不说,还都热情开朗积极阳光。这也是我非常喜欢这些户外运动的原因。感谢PNOA 的活动组织和后勤,感谢队友们的互相关照,一路走来比预计的轻松很多。菜鸟小白在逐渐成长。 打油诗记录一下这次BP。 卑诗深山远,山中有石墙。耸立万尺高,绵延百里长。飞鸟不能渡,传闻仙人藏。户外背包客,组队去探访。须眉九好汉,巾帼十娇娘。南线三女侠,随行有七将。北路七仙女,另配两健郎。两队齐进山,相约正中央。北路有领导,保尔当队长。还有小文青,记录做文章。晴空天色好,略有烟尘扬。首日穿林走,无景聊家常。安营扎寨处,飞瀑挂前方。营边有小溪,溪水刺骨凉。晚餐美食秀,锅碗瓢盆响。晨起拍金顶,美照约分享。迂回渐登高,豁然景开朗。石墙巍峨立,冰川万古长。小径蜿蜒走,雪湖洗脚爽。可惜野花败,轻烟如纱帐。草甸遇灰熊,踱步气轩昂。远远问个好,不扰巡查忙。三日最轻松,会师窄道上。拉旗拍合照,珍重分道扬。早早到营地,正好有艳阳。晒被晒帐篷,还可洗衣裳。餐后来拉伸,琳达教练强。早睡养精锐,次日不慌张。爬升近千米,才能到湖旁。景色在高处,最美好风光。金松林中走,垭口极目望。蓝绿双色湖,微风翻细浪。湖水太冰凉,放弃水中浪。闲适湖边坐,假钓学姜尚。冰川时发怒,雪崩轰鸣响。轮番摆姿势,美女拍照忙。祈祷天给力,日出洒金光。明天不下雨,外加星空朗。天也很无语,太贪没商量。夜半狂风作,晨起急雨降。略作惩戒后,雨收云雾茫。风止倒影现,湖山半云藏。仙境不常见,齐呼人品旺。流连不愿去,美景心中藏。出山奔温泉,美食任君尝。壮哉石墙道,圆满走一趟。
