PNOA Interior Ski Trip 2026: A Memorable Journey Through Alberta and BC’s Best Slopes

The current image has no alternative text. The file name is: 4927c32e09c7c4f1418164124172202a.jpeg

From February 13 to 22, 2026, 31 enthusiastic members of PNOA embarked on an epic 9-car convoy skiing adventure across the stunning interiors of Alberta and British Columbia. This trip combined world-class ski resorts, breathtaking natural wonders, festive celebrations, and unbreakable team spirit. Special thanks to our amazing leaders and coordinators: Timothy, Lao Wan, Lisa, Victor, James Zhang, Sherry, Hong, Elson, Elton, Rick and Tao Yuan Ming — your dedication, careful planning, and constant care made everything run smoothly and safely. Without you, this unforgettable experience wouldn’t have been possible!

Day 1 – Feb 13: Departure Day

Nine cars and 31 people set off from various spots in Greater Vancouver, heading to Canmore for our first overnight at Worldmark Canmore Resort. Huge shoutout to Victor Zhang for securing this perfect accommodation — it gave everyone a comfortable base right from the start. The drive was surprisingly smooth: mostly great weather along the way, with only a bit of light rain. Even the notorious Coquihalla Highway treated us kindly with clear roads and good conditions. Old Man Winter definitely smiled on us!

Day 2 – Feb 14: First Ski Day at Lake Louise

We drove from Canmore to the iconic Lake Louise Ski Resort for our opening day on the slopes. Weather: light snow, -9°C (feels like -12°C). For most of the group, this was their very first time skiing outside BC — and their first taste of Lake Louise! Nerves, excitement, and fresh thrills filled the air. Despite occasional fog and windy summits, everyone skied safely and finished the day strong. Bonus: it was Valentine’s Day, so eight couples treated us to plenty of sweet “dog food” photos!

Day 3 – Feb 15: Sunshine Village – The Highlight

Banff Sunshine was unanimously voted the most beautiful ski resort anyone in the group had ever visited — no contest! Sunny skies all day (despite forecasts of overcast), great snow, and surprisingly few crowds. Pure joy on the mountain! Several members asked if we could swap remaining days from our Mountain Collective pass to spend more time here. We already want to come back!

Day 4 – Feb 16: Non-Ski Day – Abraham Lake & Festive Dinner

A perfect rest day: we visited the magical Abraham Lake (Bubble Lake) under calm, wind-free conditions (a rarity for this famously breezy spot). In the afternoon, back at the resort, we celebrated Alberta/BC Family Day and Chinese Lunar New Year’s Eve with a big group dinner. Roads had some icy patches, but our drivers handled everything safely. The weather gods continued to bless us.

Day 5 – Feb 17: Return to Lake Louise

About 10 cm of fresh snow overnight transformed the conditions — much better than our first visit! Colder at -18°C (feels like -25°C), but everyone dove into the fresh Alberta powder with huge smiles. Pure fun!

Day 6 – Feb 18: Sunshine Village in Extreme Cold

One word: Cold! Actually, two words: Really cold!! -28°C (feels like -35°C). Many experienced -25°C skiing for the first time. Leaders adjusted plans: more frequent warm-up breaks in lodges, mandatory check-ins for discomfort. Surprisingly, once moving on the sunny slopes with epic views of Mount Assiniboine, the cold felt manageable. Some skied all day without stopping for food or breaks — too busy enjoying the “skiing in a painting” views!

Day 7 – Feb 19: Travel Day to Kamloops

We left Canmore for Kamloops. Lao Wan’s car headed straight home, while the rest checked into Quality Inn. A relaxed free day: some chased sunrise photos, others hit scenic spots around Banff/Lake Louise/Golden, and a few slept in and drove leisurely. Weather cooperated nicely.

Day 8 – Feb 20: First Day at Sun Peaks

From Kamloops to Sun Peaks Resort — 28 people now. Snow conditions couldn’t match Alberta’s powder, but far superior to local Vancouver resorts (and even better than Whistler for many). The famous 5 Mile green run lived up to its name — long, flowing, and incredibly fun! Excitement was high for first-timers.

Day 9 – Feb 21: Free Ski Day & Celebration Dinner at Sun Peaks

A full free-ski day. Leaders skied together to share tips and techniques. Many joined the resort’s complimentary Sun Host Mountain Tours — grouped by ability level, led by friendly locals in bright orange jackets. These tours introduced hidden gems and made the vast terrain feel welcoming (check details at sunpeaksresort.com).

In the evening, we gathered in Sunny/Mei/Qiu’s suite for a potluck celebration dinner. Everyone showcased their cooking magic — dishes from all over, photos, heartfelt sharing, and lots of reluctance to say goodbye.

Day 10 – Feb 22: Home Sweet Home

Time to head back! Most returned home, while Sherry/Hong’s family stayed for one more day at Sun Peaks. A short snowy section near Kamloops, but otherwise great roads — even Coquihalla was clean. No banquet lasts forever, but we’re already looking forward to the next adventure!

In Summary

Meticulous organization ensured smooth operations. Leaders watched over everyone’s safety with care. Teammates cooperated beautifully to keep the group harmonious and joyful.

This trip was more than skiing — it was friendship, laughter, stunning scenery, and shared memories.

Thank you all — Timothy, Lao Wan, Lisa, Victor, James Zhang, Sherry, Hong, Elson, Elton, Rick, Tao Yuan Ming and every single participant! Here’s to many more PNOA adventures!

Lake Louise

天气:小雪,-9°C(体感-12°C)。

Lake Louise

Kamloops

自由行程:有人追日出,有人打卡Banff/Lake Louise/Golden景点,有人睡到自然醒。

Great Cycle Challenge!
