PNOA 2025 AGM: A Celebration of Community and Outdoor Spirit

Despite the snowy weather, members of the Pacific Northwest Outdoor Association (PNOA) braved the elements and gathered on Sunday February 2 at the Fleetwood Community Center for our 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM). It was an afternoon filled with camaraderie, meaningful discussions, and exciting plans for the year ahead.

Lunch & Social Time

The event kicked off with a delicious lunch and social hour, where members reconnected and shared their outdoor adventures. Tim opened with a brief introduction, reflecting on PNOA’s history and growth. Following that, Amy Sun and James Zhang shared their personal experiences, inspiring everyone with their journeys in the outdoors. Our generous sponsors also took the stage to showcase their latest products, further enriching the event.

Official Meeting Proceedings

At 1:30 PM, Yolanda, acting as Chair, officially called the meeting to order. With a quorum confirmed, members swiftly approved the agenda and the minutes of the last AGM.

New Business & Board Reports

The first item on the agenda was a bylaw amendment resolution, presented by Li, to refine PNOA’s governance structure. Following this, board directors provided comprehensive reports:

  • Membership & Operations Review (Paul)
  • Outdoor Activity Review (Timothy)
  • Training Review (Victor)
  • Community Engagement & Neighborhood Small Grant Updates (Roy) – accompanied by our third prize draw!
  • Leaders’ Development & Recognitions (Timothy & Li)
  • Photography Contest Awards (Victor)
  • Financial Review (Hugh)
  • Social Media Development (Yuki)

Financials & Future Plans

At 3:00 PM, members approved the 2024 financial statements, appointed an accountant for review, and approved the 2025 budget, followed by the second prize draw. Then, Timothy presented exciting plans for 2025 activities, outlining upcoming adventures and training opportunities.

Board Elections & Grand Prize Draw

The election of new board directors took place at 3:30 PM, ensuring PNOA remains strong and well-led. As the meeting concluded, anticipation built for the grand prize draw, marking a fun and rewarding end to the day.

Closing Thoughts

Despite the snowy conditions, members showed their dedication by attending in full force. With great food, engaging conversations, and a shared passion for the outdoors, the event was a true testament to our motto:

We go together, go further, go safer!”
