10 Adventurers | 17.9 km | 790 m Elevation Gain

Rain, Fog, and Stunning Alpine Views

On June 22, ten PNOA members set out for a full-day hike to Watersprite Lake, a stunning turquoise alpine lake near Garibaldi Provincial Park. We left at 6am, reached the trailhead by 8am, and returned to the parking lot at 4pm.

Though the morning brought light drizzle and thick fog, our spirits were high. The trail was muddy, slippery, and challenging at times—but also incredibly rewarding.

Watersprite Lake is known for its crystal-clear waters and breathtaking views of Castle Towers Mountain. The trail is about 17.9 km round trip with 790 m of elevation gain. It starts off gently, zigzagging toward Watersprite Creek before climbing steadily along the valley. Near the top, deep snow and a short, steep boulder scramble marked the final stretch to the lake.

Despite the weather, we were well-prepared with 4WD access, proper gear, and Leave No Trace principles in mind. The lake, with patches of snow still floating on its surface, was as beautiful as ever.

It was a challenging but unforgettable day in nature.

Special thanks to Patrick and Lao Wan for making this trip possible through their generous contributions and passionate support for PNOA. Your dedication helps bring these outdoor adventures to life—thank you both!
